People In Music History
Luening, Otto (b. 1900) American composer who studied in Munich and in Zurich
(pupil of Busoni); was also flutist and conductor. Has made much use of
electronic music, e.g., Fantasy in Space (flute on tape) and, composed jointly
with Ussachevsky, Poem in Cycles and Bells for tape and orchestra; earlier,
wrote 3 string quartets, serenade for 3 horns and strings, opera Evangeline,
etc.
